Birgunj. Petroleum products worth Rs 174.9 billion have been imported through Birgunj border point in the 11 months of the current fiscal year. Diesel, petrol, liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), aviation turbine fuel (ATF) and kerosene have been imported. Overall, the import of petroleum products has decreased by Rs 1.06 billion in the same period of the current fiscal year as compared to the 11 months of the last fiscal year. Although the import of petroleum products decreased on the basis of price during the period, the revenue from it increased by 11.66 percent i.e. Rs 7.64 billion.
According to Deepak Lamichhane, chief of Birgunj Customs Office, the office has earned the highest revenue from the import of petroleum products in the 11 months of the current fiscal year. The revenue here depends on the import of petroleum products and the import of vehicles.
The office has collected Rs 73.18 billion from the import of five types of petroleum products in the 11 months of the current fiscal year. In the same period of the last fiscal year, rs 65.54 billion was collected from the import of all the five types of petroleum products.
According to the Birgunj Customs Office, 1,030,253 kilolitres of diesel worth Rs 89.76 billion has been imported till Mid-May of the current fiscal year. In the same period of the last fiscal year, 921,275 kilolitres of diesel worth Rs 93.63 billion was imported. The office has collected Rs 41.03 billion in revenue from diesel imports as compared to Rs 36.04 billion in the same period last fiscal year.
Similarly, 413,504 kilolitres of petrol worth Rs 35.34 billion was imported in the 11 months of the current fiscal year. Similarly, 361,727 kilolitres of petrol worth Rs 36.04 billion was imported in the 11 months of the last fiscal year. The office collected Rs 23.38 billion in revenue from petrol imports and Rs 20.73 billion in the same period last fiscal year.
A total of 291.42 million kilograms of LPG worth Rs 33.35 billion has been imported through this transit point in the 11 months of the current fiscal year. In the same period of the last fiscal year, 257,938,976 kilograms of LPG worth Rs 27.71 billion was imported. It collected Rs 6.24 billion in gas imports and Rs 5.16 billion in the same period of the previous fiscal year.
A total of 167,398 kilolitres of ATF worth Rs 15.03 billion has been imported through Birgunj border point in the last 11 months of the current fiscal year. In the 11 months of the last fiscal year, 161,892 kilolitres of ATF worth Rs 17.11 billion was imported. The ATF has been able to collect Rs 2.35 billion for imports. In the same period of the last fiscal year, the government had collected Rs 2.47 billion in revenue.
A total of 6,730 kilolitres of kerosene worth Rs 590 million has been imported through this transit point in the 11 months of the current fiscal year. In the same period of the last fiscal year, 6,120 kilolitres of kerosene worth Rs 630 million was imported. It collected Rs 160 million from import of kerosene and Rs 160 million in the same period of the last fiscal year. rss
