Kathmandu. । A corruption case has been filed against 93 people, including former Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal, in the Patanjali land lease case. The Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) on Thursday filed a corruption case against the accused, including Chairman Nepal, in the Patanjali land embezzlement case.

Information Officer at the Special Court Yagya Raj Regmi informed that rs 185.85 million has been demanded from Chairman Nepal. In the first week of May, the Public Accounts Committee had decided to direct the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) to investigate the irregularities in the allotment of land of Patanjali Yogpeeth.

Patanjali Yogpeeth had purchased land for herbal farming and construction of Ayurveda hospital at a discount. The CIAA had launched an investigation after it was found that the land, which was exempted from the decision of the then government, was later sold by the decision of the Council of Ministers.

According to the Land Act, 2021, the government has the facility to keep land in such a way that it is exempted from the limits to carry out any productive industry or business. However, the land purchased at such facilities cannot be sold. Questions were raised after the government allowed the sale of the land received at a discount.

Information Officer at the Special Court Yagya Raj Regmi said, “The Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) has filed a case against 93 people, including former Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal, at the special court on The charge of embezzling and misappropriating public property by allowing them to buy and sell land beyond the limit.” It is alleged that Patanjali Yogpeeth and Ayurvedic Nepal purchased land in Sanga Mahendrajyoti, the place of Nashika of Kavre, for running the company beyond the limit and sold the land at a lower price and sold it at a higher price. ‘

“It shows that 554 ropanis of land purchased have been purchased. The valuation amount of the land is Rs 185.85 million. The price of 314 ropanis sold more than the limit is 15 annas 2 paisa 1. Of the land, Guthi Sasthan Hatichaur owns 252 ropanis 3 annas 1 paisa and Patanjali Yogpeeth Ayurveda Company is the owner of the land. The defendants are Madhav Kumar Nepal and 93 former ministers,” he said.

Patanjali Yogpeeth of India had registered the company in 2064 BS to run an Ayurveda school in Kavre, a hospital and herbal farm. It had requested the government to allow the land to be kept at a delimitation as the land within the limit would not reach it.

On February 18, 2066, the Madhav Kumar Nepal-led council of ministers had exempted Patanjali from buying 815 ropanis of land in Kavre. At that time Patanjali had purchased about 600 ropanis of land. Some of the land was purchased before that. Within a few months of buying the land, he decided to sell the land.

Legally, land cannot be sold. There is a legal provision that when the company is dissolved, the subsidized land will be automatically governmentized. But in 2066 BS, the then government decided to allow the sale of the land.
