Kathmandu. CPN (Maoist Centre) lawmaker Madhav Sapkota has demanded the government to resolve the guthi problem. Speaking during the Zero Hour of the House of Representatives, Sapkota demanded the government to resolve the problem immediately as 146 registered guthis in Sindhupalchowk alone are in trouble.
He said that millions of people across the country have been affected by guthi and there are problems of different nature of guthi in 68 districts. He drew the attention of the government to solve the problems related to guthi by bringing a bill immediately after conducting a thorough study to solve various problems related to guthi.
He said, “Only those who are suffering from guthi know. Millions of citizens across the country are affected by this pain. Among them, there are problems related to Guthi in Phatkashila of Melamchi, Attarpur Sigre of Lisankhu, Phulpingkot of Balefi, Phulpingdanda, Mankha, Tauthali Dhuskun of Tripurasundari, Maneshwora of Barhabise, Gumba of Jugal, Pangretar of Sunkoshi, Tekanpur, Thokarpa and Kalika. In Sindhupalchowk alone, 146 guthis are registered in their names. There are problems of guthi of different nature in 68 districts across the country. Therefore, Through the Speaker, I urge the Government of Nepal to conduct an in-depth study to solve the various problems related to it and immediately bring the Guthi Bill to solve the problems. ’
He argued that the guthi problem could not be solved until the bill was brought.
