One dead, 3 injured in ‘Eco Van’ accident

Myagdi. One person died and three were injured in an ‘eco van’ accident in Guithebhir of Annapurna Rural Municipality-3 of Myagdi.

The eco van (Ba 6 Cha 4944) heading from Sukebgar of Annapurna Rural Municipality-3 towards Narchyang on the Beni-Jomsom-Korla road fell off the road and onto the banks of the Kaligandaki River today, according to the Border Police Post Bhurung Tatopani.

Sundevi Gauchan (Sarita), a resident of Annapurna-4, who was also the driver of the van, died on the spot, said Ramesh Prasad Adhikari, Chief Police Assistant Inspector of Border Police Post Bhurung Tatopani. .

He said that Rupa Pun, Namita Chochangi and Bishnukumari Budhathoki, who were seriously injured in the accident, have been rescued and sent to Pokhara Hospital for treatment. The van carrying passengers going to the Shiva temple in Narchyang has fallen about 150 meters from the road onto the banks of the Kaligandaki.

A team led by Police Inspector Sagar Poudel of the District Police Office, Myagdi, has reached the spot and started investigating the accident. The first Tarun Cup volleyball tournament, which was scheduled to begin in Annapurna-4 Narchyang from Wednesday, has been postponed due to an accident.

Shri Prasad Roka, acting president of Tarun Dal Myagdi, informed that the Wednesday program of the sports tournament has been postponed due to the death and injuries of a local person in an accident near the event venue.
