Kathmandu. As per the mandate of the Honorable Supreme Court, the high-level committee formed to hold the NRNA’s unity convention has formed a three-member election commission.
The committee, headed by Senior Advocate Gopal Krishna Ghimire as the Chief Election Commissioner, includes retired Major Damar Ghale and Advocate Ashish Upreti as Election Commissioners.
Senior Advocate Gopal Krishna Ghimire, who has extensive experience in the legal field of Nepal, is the former president of the Democratic Lawyers Association, while retired Major Damar Ghale of the British Army’s Brigade of Gorkhas is the former president of NRNA UK. He currently lives in the UK and is running his own hotel business in Pokhara. Similarly, Advocate Ashish Upreti is a young legal practitioner.
“In order to unite the Non-Resident Nepali Association, which has been embroiled in controversy for a long time, and hold a general convention, a general convention of unity is being held in Kathmandu on May 3-5, 2025, in coordination with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, as per the mandate of the Supreme Court. “We also urge all friends to support this election committee to conduct fair and transparent elections to democratize the organization and empower all members,” said Dr., Chairman of the High-Level Committee. Shesh Ghale said.
The high-level committee has urged members to apply for new membership or renew their membership by visiting https://nrnahlc.com/membership-registration/ by March 31, 2025. The committee has also stated that arrangements have been made for all registered members of NRNA to attend Kathmandu and pay the prescribed fee and become delegates.
