Parsa. Nepal Rastra Bank has collected suggestions from industrialists/businessmen of Birgunj for the budget for the upcoming fiscal year 2082-83. The Economic Research Department of the Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB) has collected suggestions regarding the issues that should be included in the upcoming budget through a pre-budget interaction for the upcoming fiscal year.
Birgunj Chamber of Commerce and Industry President Anil Kumar Agrawal requested that a budget be brought in the upcoming fiscal year to boost morale as the morale of industrialists and businessmen has been declining recently.
‘Although government agencies have been coming to collect suggestions from industrialists/businessmen here before and after the budget every year, it is a bitter reality that the issues of industrialists and businessmen here are not being addressed,’ he said. ‘Since Nepal Rastra Bank is the economic advisor to the government, we certainly expect the suggestions given this time to be implemented.’
President Agrawal He said that the morale of the private sector is gradually declining due to the lack of trust between the government and the private sector. ‘When the morale of industrialists and businessmen declines. Then the economic development of the country cannot be imagined,’ he said. ‘The government needs to develop a system for collecting revenue through a single-door system.’
Economist Dipendra Kumar Chaudhary suggested that the government bring a realistic and objective budget rather than bringing a deficit budget. ‘There is no point in bringing a deficit budget that cannot collect revenue as per the target,’ he said. ‘It is necessary to bring an objective and realistic budget and implement it.’
Arvind Lal Karna, Chief Administrative Officer of Birgunj Metropolitan City, said that although Birgunj Metropolitan City has sufficient agricultural land, it is lacking the necessary resources. Chief Administrative Officer Karna accused the federal government of neglecting the development of Birgunj’s infrastructure and other sectors, even though the country collects the most revenue from Birgunj.
Hari Gautam, Senior Vice President of Birgunj Chamber of Commerce and Industry, pointed out that it is necessary for the government to end the trend of bringing budgets haphazardly and not implementing them. Satyendra Raj Subedi, Director of the Research Department of Nepal Rastra Bank, said that the suggestions given by the industrialists and businessmen will be transcribed and handed over to the government.
‘The industrialists and businessmen here have given very practical advice and suggestions. We will include them in our report and hand them over to the government,’ he said. Deputy Director of the National Bank, Bishnu Prasad Subedi, presented a working paper on budget suggestions.
Sushil Poudel, Head of the Birgunj Office of the National Bank, said that such discussion-based programs will guide the budget preparation.
