Kathmandu. Nepal Bankers Association (NBA) President Santosh Koirala has said that problems have increased in bank loan recovery. Speaking at a press conference held by NBA on Tuesday, President Koirala said that as the bad loans of banks are increasing, the local level has not supported the recovery.

He said, “If the bank does not raise the loan, it will go to auction. But the local level is delaying in giving recommendations for home loans. They may also have their own limitations, but this is affecting the bank recovery.”

According to President Koirala, the situation has become unsafe for bank employees when going for recovery. Chairman Koirala said that the government’s attention has been drawn to the security of bankers.

Banks have made the second quarter report public on Monday. According to the report, the bad loans of many banks are increasing. The bad loan ratio of commercial banks has reached above 4.5 percent.

The distributable profit ratio of banks has become negative. NBA Vice Chairman Surendra Raj Regmi said that since the Nepali banking sector is strong, the positive side should be looked at.
