Kathmandu. Minister for Agriculture and Livestock Development Ramnath Adhikari has said that there will always be a shortage of manure. Speaking at a program to promote Dahi Chiura organized by the Nepal Dairy Association, he said this.
He said that there is and will continue to be a shortage of manure, adding that last year the Ministry of Agriculture was allocated a budget of 27.95 billion rupees and a total of more than 450,000 tons of manure was received. He said that the supply of manure in the market is 1.1 to 1.3 million tons and one-fourth of the manure is not in a position to deliver manure to farmers on time. He lamented that farmers have been consuming surplus milk for years and have not been able to pay.
Minister Adhikari said, ‘We have not been able to pay the farmers. We have been consuming surplus milk for years. When will we pay it? The problem is on many sides. But still, we have to be happy and stand among everyone. We should do any profession and business. Let’s not be weak. We should not cheat the farmers at the lower level from anywhere. It is very difficult to raise a buffalo and a cow. Let’s not cheat the people at the lower level. I was thinking about what I would do after becoming a minister.’
‘I also had a desire, I would make new changes, if we did not have financial limitations, economic contraction in the country, we would have done many things. There is a shortage of fertilizer, it happens, no matter who is the minister. Last year, we were allocated a budget of 27.95 billion rupees. A total of 4.5 lakh tons of fertilizer is not coming. The supply of our demand in the market is 1.1 to 1.3 lakh tons. How can we deliver fertilizer to farmers on time with a quarter of it. It is not possible. But don’t worry, it’s the state’s responsibility, he said.
Minister Adhikari said that there are many problems including the cooling center and insurance.
