Kathmandu. Minister for Communications and Information Technology Prithvi Subba Gurung has commented that the Maoists in Nepal have sold out the people’s war. He said this while addressing a program organized in Kathmandu on Wednesday.
He said that the monarchy did not come by the Maoists storming from Rukum and Rolpa, capturing Singha Durbar, capturing Narayanhiti, and defeating the Nepali Army. He said that the revolution in the country was completed through the people’s multi-party democracy. He said that on 2065 BS, 596 representatives out of 601 parliamentarians voted to overthrow the monarchy.
He argued that the fact that the revolution in the country was completed peacefully confirmed that the Maoists’ people’s war was wrong. Why is he running away from the word Maoist violence out of fear? He asked.
Is the Maoist party now a communist party that does not have weapons in its hands? He asked. He said that even though the Maoist Center is named after him, he could not say that Maoism is correct.
Although Maoist leaders in Nepal have become Vice President, Speaker, and Prime Minister, Maoists around the world are still dying, stating that the killings, violence, barbarity, and cruelty committed by Maoists in the name of revolution are terrorism.
Minister Gurung said, ‘The first meeting of the first Constituent Assembly was held on 15th Jestha 2065 BS. That first meeting decided that the country no longer needs a monarchy. The revolution was not completed by the Maoists shouting from Rukum or Rolpa, capturing Singha Durbar, capturing Narayanhiti, and defeating the Nepali Army, in this country. The revolution was completed in this country through the path of people’s multi-party democracy.’
‘This confirms that our party’s policy of people’s multi-party democracy was the right side of the revolution. Why are the Maoists running away from the word violence? Why are they running away from the word Maoism? They have already sold out the people’s war. A communist party that does not have weapons in its hands is not a communist party. UML is stuck in a parliamentary quagmire, UML is not a communist party. Someone used to call me a “sir” when I said I was not a communist. But today they do not have an army, are they a communist party or not? We had said that forming an army and raising weapons depends on the society and the situation,’ he said.
Minister Gurung said that the Maoists’ justification has ended in the current world. He insisted that the killings and violence committed by the Maoists in the name of the people’s war are not political issues.
He said that the participation of a power that continues to believe in Maoism in the parliamentary system is not in accordance with moral principles. He commented that the sins of the Maoists’ people’s war are crying out from the axis. He said that it is necessary to regulate uncivilized things to make the country civilized.
