Kathmandu. Speaker Devraj Ghimire has said that Nepal is seriously affected by global warming due to increasing carbon emissions. He said this while addressing a program organized by Sahara Nepal in Kathmandu on Sunday.
He said that Nepal is currently being punished for a crime it did not commit. He informed that the carbon emitted in large quantities by the rich and industrialized countries of the world has directly affected Nepal’s natural resources.
He mentioned that the decreasing amount of snow in the Himalayan region is a sign that the natural cycle is being seriously affected. He said that collaboration between the government, private sector, civil society and international partners is essential to address the challenges posed by climate change.
He said that it is necessary to make planned efforts to support communities facing livelihood crises and reduce environmental damage.
Speaker Ghimire said that federal parliamentarians are taking necessary initiatives for climate policy formulation, promotion of renewable energy and environmental improvement through international forums such as the Climate Parliament. He said that the work of promoting renewable energy, making environmental laws and green budget projects is progressing through the parliament. They have urged to give priority to planting fruit trees as much as possible while planting trees.
