Kathmandu. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has written to organize a unity general convention of the Non-Resident Nepali Association (NRNA) under the leadership of Shesh Ghale. Based on the recent correspondence from the Supreme Court’s Mandate and Judgment Implementation Directorate, the ministerial-level decision of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has been made, appointing Joint Secretary Aruna Joshi as a representative. This is also seen as the government’s support and cooperation in holding the NRNA Unity General Convention.
‘As the name of Aruna Joshi, Joint Secretary of the Nepal Judicial Service, Law Group, has been recommended by the Ministry of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs, it is requested that Aruna Joshi, Joint Secretary of the Nepal Judicial Service, Law Group, be assigned to facilitate the work of the high-level committee as per the decision of this ministry dated 2081/11/18,’ the letter sent by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to the NRNA Secretariat and High-Level Committee Coordinator Shesh Ghale states.
The letter also instructs all stakeholders to cooperate with the committee as per the Supreme Court’s order. In the context of the NRNA dispute, the Supreme Court had given a mandate on March 21 to hold a general convention of the unity under the leadership of Shesh Ghale.
Point number six of the decision section of the said mandate stated that ‘the Government of Nepal shall designate a gazetted first-class officer of the Nepal Judicial Service to facilitate the work of the committee to ensure that all disputes related to the association are resolved and the convention is concluded on time.’ For this, last Sunday, the Supreme Court’s decision directorate had sent a letter to the foreign ministry and directed it to make necessary arrangements. In Sunday’s letter, the KC side was also instructed to hand over the association’s office to the high-level committee.
The directorate has directed the high-level committee to hand over all offices, staff administration, cash and goods, documents, and other items for the purpose of holding new elections. Although the coordinator of the high-level committee is former president Shesh Ghale, the Badri KC group has been working from the Baluwatar-based secretariat of the association. Although the court has given the responsibility of organizing the unity convention, Ghale has not worked in the association so far. Now the committee has stated that it will work from the central office.
Binod Kunwar, a member of the high-level committee, informed that all the necessary work, from membership renewal to holding the NCC convention, has been expedited. The high-level committee has already set a date to organize the unity convention in Kathmandu on May 3-5, 2025.
