Kathmandu. Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has said the country should be taken on the path of progress by making the democratic republic more advanced, disciplined and strong. He said this while addressing a program organized on the occasion of Republic Day in Tundikhel.
According to him, at least 36,057 representatives of different castes and communities can be elected in an inclusive manner, from ward members to the President of the country, by voting on their own in place of the system of appointing chiefs of districts, villages and towns.
He said that public surveillance and public information system in the republic have made the people judges on the crimes and corruption that are secretly committed in autocracy due to the restriction of the public communication system.
Taking advantage of this, the absolutists are trying hard to prove today’s transparency dirty by showing the garbage hidden in yesterday’s darkness clean, he said. He said that the conduct and behavior of all of us, who are in charge of the organs of the state and also in the informal sector, should be further improved.

“We can take the country on the path of progress by making the democratic republic more advanced, disciplined and stronger. Autocracy and republic – which is the best is not a matter of debate in our society. All of us in charge of state organs and even in the informal sector may have much to do to improve our conduct and behaviour. Poverty, unemployment, corruption – these challenges of the nation can only be met by choosing honest political power through elections in a democratic system, not by looking for a crowned dictator. History bears witness that the people were ruled under the guise of that crown, not service. The process of introducing the state machinery from governance to service started after the republic, which has not been completed yet,” he added.
