Nearly 500 households in Guthichaur are in darkness after the power outage, and locals complain that the government is not paying attention to generator repairs.

Jumla. 480 households in Guthichaur Rural Municipality-1 here have been without electricity for three months. Local Parek Aidi informed that problems have been reported in Napani, Gadhigaun, Mani Sanghu, Dillikot and Mani villages after the generator and transmitter of the Adalikhola Micro Hydropower Project in this ward broke down.

Since last Falgun, electricity supply has been disrupted after the 55 kilowatt generator and transmitter broke down, but locals complain that the concerned bodies have not been able to get the attention of the concerned bodies for repairs. Local Ganesh Aidy said that the electricity shortage has affected children’s education, mobile charging, Kutani-Pisani mill and local furniture industry.

Project chairman Jitendra Lama said that the generator and transmitter could not be repaired due to financial shortage. Ward chairman of Guthichaur Rural Municipality-1 Arjun Kumar Mahatara said that the local government has allocated Rs 300,000 for the repair and additional budget will be managed if necessary. He said that the necessary work for the operation of electricity service will be done soon.
