Kathmandu. Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) Executive Director Hitendra Dev Shakya has said that the nea is in a difficult situation.
Addressing a programme organized on the occasion of the 13th general convention of Nepal Electricity Authority Employees’ Association in Kathmandu on Friday, he said that it was difficult to keep the service delivery efficient due to weak infrastructure.
According to Shakya, the broadcasting and distribution system is not able to sustain it at present. The weak transmission system and distribution system has put the AUTHORITY in a difficult situation. Shakya said the investment in power infrastructure was weak and there was a need for adequate investment.
According to him, the investment made in the past did not reach. There is a problem with 3,500 MW, what will happen if you try to meet the target of 28,500 MW? He asked.
Shakya indicated that the energy sector is in danger of getting into trouble if investment is not made in power infrastructure in the coming days. Stating that the NeA should be protected even for the energy sector, he said the future of the energy sector is at risk if the NEA is fragmented.
According to Shakya, the Electricity Authority is the backbone of the private sector. NeA should be strengthened until at least 10,000 MW.
Executive Director Shakya said, “Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) is in a difficult situation at present. It is not a difficult situation for the NEA to suffer losses. Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) is in a compelling position to move forward. The government has set a target of 28,500 progress. At present, our broadcasting and distribution system is not able to sustain 3,500 people. Our system is so weak. The trip is happening now. Today a tree fell and a transmission line trip. The system is tripping. Why couldn’t we make it stronger? Our economic condition, the investment we had to make, could not be done enough. ’
There is a challenge in constructing transmission line to distribution line as it is difficult to get loan at cheap interest rate while Nepal is moving from least developed country to developed country.
If foreign aid does not come, the Electricity Authority alone will not be able to sustain this sector. Shakya said that the private sector should also support the NEA in this regard. He also urged everyone to support him.
