Kathmandu. The Government of Nepal has honored Ncell as the highest income tax payer in the country’s Information and Communication Technology (ICT) sector. The honor was presented to Ncell at a special program of the 8th National Information and Communication Technology Day 2082 organized in Kathmandu on Friday.
May 2 is celebrated every year as ‘National Information and Communication Technology Day’ to promote and develop ICT in the country. At the event, Honorable Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli presented a certificate of appreciation to Ncell’s Marketing, Communications and Sustainability Director Poonam Singh.
This award was presented to Ncell on the auspicious occasion of National Information and Communication Technology Day 2082 in recognition of its special contribution to the development, expansion and prosperity of the Information and Communication Technology sector in the last fiscal year 2080/2081 by paying the highest tax in the field of Information and Communication Technology. Ncell has been established as one of the highest tax paying companies for a long time.

Earlier, Ncell has received awards from the government at various times, including Best Taxpayer, Best Income Tax Payer, etc. Last year, Ncell was honored as the best taxpayer by the Lalitpur Metropolitan City for contributing the highest tax on the institutional side in the last fiscal year 2080/81.
Ncell has paid more than Rs. 340 billion in taxes and fees to the government under various tax and fee headings since its inception until the last fiscal year 2080/81. Last fiscal year alone, the company paid Rs 20.30 billion in taxes and fees to the government.
Similarly, the company is committed to contributing to the development of Nepal and Nepalis by implementing effective Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programs through the Ncell Foundation.
The company has contributed more than Rs 2 billion under its CSR, reaching the community level in all seven provinces, directly/indirectly benefiting more than 13 million people across the country.
