Kathmandu. Ict Foundation Nepal and Ncell Foundation have jointly launched digital literacy program in all seven provinces. Digital literacy programme ‘ICT Gyan’ has been launched in all seven provinces with the aim of using digital technology and spreading awareness across the country.
In the program, training will be provided to schools, women groups, agricultural entrepreneurs, young entrepreneurs and local government representatives on various topics of digital skills and technology use. Under this, digital literacy programs have been completed in Koshi and Madhes provinces. More than 500 people participated in the digital literacy program of Koshi and Madhes.
Digital basic training and cyber security related programs were conducted in Morang and Sunsari districts of Koshi Province, while literacy programs were conducted in Saptari and Sarlahi districts of Madhes Province to promote the use of mobile banking and online payment system.
Ncell Foundation and Special Project Director Vishakha Laxmi Khadka said the ICT Knowledge Initiative will create awareness in the era of digital transformation and act as a bridge to end the digital gap.
“The ICT Knowledge Initiative is a symbol of our commitment to take everyone forward together in this era of digital transformation and meet the digital gap,” she said, adding, “Through this grassroots programme, we are providing various essential digital knowledge and skills so that participants can actively participate in Nepal’s digital future.” ’
Speaking about the program, Rajan Lamsal, President of ICT Foundation, said that the program would be beneficial in ending digital discrimination and ensuring universal access to information technology. It is believed that skill development at the community level will bring sustainable changes in the socio-economic sector, he added.
After Koshi and Madhes, the digital literacy program, which has been promoted as a social responsibility program of Ncell Foundation, will also be conducted in other provinces respectively.
Under the programme, training on social media management and data privacy will be imparted in Dolakha and Sindhupalchowk of Bagmati Province, while best practices in cloud services and digital entrepreneurship will be promoted in Syangja and Manang districts of Gandaki State.
Similarly, literacy will be imparted on agricultural digitalization and expansion of use of farmers mobile apps in Banke and Pyuthan of Lumbini Province, electronic governance system and digital financial inclusion in Dailekh and Salyan of Karnali State and government services e-governance and online platform in Achham and Kailali districts of Sudurpaschim State.
The organizers believe that these initiatives will contribute significantly to building a digital inclusiveness and technology-friendly society across the country in the days to come.
