Ncell distributes educational materials and relief supplies to flood-affected areas (Photo Feature)

Kathmandu. Ncell Foundation has distributed educational materials to 500 children affected by the floods in the Bagmati River, Balkhu area. This assistance was provided in collaboration with Karmayog Foundation as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Disaster Response Plan.

The Balkhu area along the riverbank was inundated due to the floods caused by the incessant rains on Asoj 11 and 12. Due to this, students in the area lost their books, notebooks and other educational materials.

Ncell has been prioritizing disaster preparedness and response under CSR. Accordingly, Ncell Foundation has distributed relief to the affected families of Panauti, Roshi in Kavre and Chakraghatta in Sarlahi, which were affected by the floods and landslides.

The Foundation has distributed relief to 215 families from wards 7, 8 and 11 of Roshi Rural Municipality. Similarly, 70 families from the affected wards 7 and 8 of Panauti Municipality have received relief assistance. The foundation has also recently distributed relief materials to 50 families from flood-affected Ward 4 of Chakraghatta Rural Municipality.

Earlier, Ncell Foundation had distributed necessary relief materials to about 200 families from Wards 4, 7, 8, 10 and 13 of Godavari Municipality, Lalitpur, which were severely affected by floods and landslides. Thus, the foundation has distributed relief materials to more than 530 households so far.

“In the past, we have provided all possible assistance and support in response to disasters such as floods, landslides, earthquakes, and COVID,” said Visakha Laxmi Khadka, Head of Corporate Communications and CSR at Ncell. ‘In times of crisis like this, it is our duty to support the community and we are committed to fulfilling our duty’.

These initiatives by Ncell Foundation have reaffirmed the importance of empathy and solidarity in times of crisis. The relief materials distributed included food items, hygiene kits, blankets and other items.

The foundation, in collaboration with the Karmayog Foundation in Godavari and in collaboration with Volunteer Corp Nepal in other locations, reached the affected wards along with Ncell employees and distributed relief materials to the affected family members present.

Last month, Ncell, on the occasion of its 19th anniversary, launched a CSR project Ncell Foundation has been announced. The company has been carrying out social work in the areas of health, education, environment, disaster preparedness and response under CSR. The company has contributed more than 2 billion to various social works across the country, directly and indirectly benefiting more than 13 million people.
