National Assembly: Demand to stop using pesticides in food

Kathmandu. National Assembly members have drawn the government’s attention to the use of pesticides in food.

During the zero hour of today’s meeting of the National Assembly, MP Krishna Prasad Poudal drew the government’s attention to the excessive use of pesticides in vegetables and fruits, daily consumer goods related to the lives of the common citizen.

He said, ‘Vegetables and fruits mixed with pesticides are making the common people sick. Statistics have proven that excessive use of pesticides directly affects the lungs, heart and kidneys, therefore, adulteration of food is unacceptable.’

Adulteration of food is prohibited under Article 35 of the Constitution. He says that it will also be a direct violation of the aforementioned right to health and the fundamental right to food mentioned in Article 36. He demanded that the concerned bodies monitor the matter in a timely manner.

MP Uday Bahadur Bohara demanded that the truth be known about the incident of the fire that broke out at 11 am on Magh 26, during the ‘Second Salyan Festival’ organized by the National Folk and Dohari Song Foundation in Srinagar, Salyan, which caused damage worth crores of rupees, and that action be taken against the culprits and compensation be provided to the traders.

MP Gomadevi Timilsina said that 37 workers working at the Pashupati Development Fund have been protesting for a long time and demanded the government to address their demands.

She said, ’37 workers have been protesting since Poush 1, those workers’ The concerned body should inform about what is happening.’

She mentioned that a worker was injured due to electricity while working in the industrial area of Hetauda and drew the attention of the government to pay attention to the treatment of the injured.
