Birgunj. The Supreme Court’s verdict has resolved the dispute over the construction of the Narayani Hospital building, which has been stalled for the past five years.
Monday’s joint bench of Supreme Court Justices Hari Prasad Phuyal and Sunil Kumar Pokharel overturned the earlier decision of the High Court Janakpur Temporary Bench, Birgunj, raising hopes that the construction of the Narayani Hospital building, which has been stalled for five years, will move forward in a new direction.
Narayani Hospital Development Committee Chairman Dhiraj Kumar Gupta informed that the dispute regarding the construction of the building has been resolved after the earlier decision of the temporary bench, Birgunj, overturned the decision of the construction company NDE/Valley Construction Pvt. Ltd. (VCPL)/National Development Engineering (SSNC). .
‘After the temporary bench ruled in favor of the construction company, the Urban Development and Building Construction Department had filed an appeal against the decision in the Supreme Court,’ he said. ‘Five years after the appeal, the Supreme Court overturned the High Court’s decision, paving the way for a new process.’
Civil society and doctors in Birgunj welcomed the decision on Monday evening after the high court’s decision was overturned.
However, the full text of the decision in the case has not yet been released. Dr. Neeraj Singh, a senior doctor at Narayani Hospital, said that the Supreme Court’s decision has paved the way for the construction process of the Narayani Hospital building.
Former Provincial Assembly member Rajeshwar Sah demanded that the construction of the hospital building be fast-tracked along with the Supreme Court’s decision. The federal government had allocated a budget of Rs 1.5 billion for the expansion of a 500-bed building at Narayani Hospital in 2075/076 BS.
The Supreme Court has given priority to the case and made the decision. In Birgunj, civil society and doctors and health workers have been holding pressure programs demanding that the issue related to the construction of the Narayani Hospital building be resolved quickly.
