Chitwan. Narayangadh-Muglin road section has been identified and work has been started to solve the problem of landslides that may occur during the rainy season. Precautions have been taken to avoid such problems after two buses were washed away by a landslide in Simaltal in June last year.

Narayan Lamichhane, chief engineer at the Division Road Office, Bharatpur, said landslide control works have been carried out at sensitive places. He said that small ‘check dams’ have been constructed so that the mud does not flow in the upper part of Simaltal where the incident took place last year. The office has placed equipment including backloaders, trucks, excavators, loaders and mini tippers at setidobhan camp on the road section, he said. Similarly, such equipment has also been kept ready at the Bharatpur office.
