Nawalparasi: Vehicular movement will be closed in the Daunne area of the Narayangadh-Butwal road section for road expansion. The decision was taken at a meeting of stakeholders from Nawalparasi Bardaghat Susta East and West held in Daunne on Saturday.

It has been decided to carry out road expansion work by banning non-essential vehicles from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm in the Daunne area from Chaitra 27 to Chaitra 31 and from 11:00 pm to 5:00 am from Baisakh 1 to Baisakh 15, 2082, said Binayi Triveni Rural Municipality Chairman Ghanashyam Giri.

‘It has been decided to close traffic for a few hours daily to carry out necessary repairs in the Daunne section and to complete the remaining work of cutting towards the wall in that section before the rains,’ he said. .

A joint meeting of the District Coordination Chiefs of Nawalparasi Bardaghat Susta East and West, Chief District Officer, Bardaghat Municipality Chief, Binayi Triveni Rural Municipality Chief, Planning Chiefs of both schemes, consultants of the scheme, construction entrepreneurs and heads of security agencies has decided to expedite the construction even if it means closing the Daunne road for a few hours daily. Although other areas of the Narayangadh-Butwal road section are being blacktopped in a hurry, in the Daunne area, the bumpy roads, narrow roundabouts, temporary diversions made for construction and dusty roads have made travel difficult. As the structures demolished during the road expansion are not reconstructed on time, commuters are forced to suffer every day.

Currently, work is underway to cut down hills, build walls and construct culverts in the Daunne section, said Engineer Shiva Khanal, Information Officer of the Eastern Section. Out of the 65 kilometers of the 114-kilometer Narayangadh-Butwal road from Gaindakot to Daunne, the market area has a service lane, and work is underway to expand the road to three lanes in the 14-kilometer section of Daunne, which is considered an increasing risk area. The road construction work is being carried out at a cost of Rs 17 billion. The deadline has been extended for the third time until 2082 Shrawan after the work was not completed on time. RSS
