Myagdi. Annapurna Rural Municipality-1, Doba, constructed at a cost of more than Rs 50 million, is lying unused.
Annapurna Rural Municipality has constructed a five-bed hospital building at Doba as per the federal government’s programme to operate basic level hospitals at all local levels.
Dilip Garbuja, ward chair of Annapurna-1, said that the construction of the building and the hospital could not be operated due to lack of access to the residents of all the wards of Annapurna, lack of human resources and equipment and the dilapidated condition of the road leading to the building.
“It has been decided to build the hospital in Doba as the land required for the hospital is not available in other wards as per the government norms,” he said, adding, “We have first taken initiative with the federal and state governments to upgrade the road from Bhirkate to Doba on the Beni-Jomsom road to put the building to use.” ‘
The building has 35 rooms including emergency service room, indoor, outpatient service, laboratory, medicine store, separate room for treatment and health worker’s residence. An agreement was signed for the construction of the building at a cost of Rs 51.26 million.
A lot of money has to be spent to cordon off the equipment, furniture and buildings required for the hospital. The residents of Doba had provided 12 ropanis of land free of cost for the construction of the hospital.
