Myagdi. The track of the Beni-Darwang-Muna-Jaljala-Dhorpatan road, which is considered an alternative to the Baglung section of the Mid-Hill Highway, has reached the opening stage. With the budget of Rs 50 million allocated by the federal government in the current fiscal year, the Road Division Office is going to open the track of the road connecting Dhaulagiri Rural Municipality-2 from Mareni to Dhorpatan.

So far, three kilometers of the ‘track’ have been opened and after opening an additional five kilometers, this road will be connected to Dhorpatan, informed Prem Prasad Pun, Chairman of Dhaulagiri Rural Municipality. The Road Division Office is continuing the upgrading of the Muna-Khoriya-Mareni section at a cost of Rs 10 million.

Around 56 kilometers of track has been opened from Beni via Muna-Khoriya-Mareni, and 10 kilometers of unpaved road has been built from Dhorpatan to Jaljala, said Resham Punamagar, Vice-Chairman of Dhaulagiri Rural Municipality.

‘After the track from Beni to Darwang-Muna-Jaljala-Dhorpatan connecting Taksera in East Rukum is opened, the distance will be shortened by 70 kilometers compared to the Baglung section of the Mid-Hill Highway,’ he said. ‘There is still eight kilometers of road left to be connected from Taksera in East Rukum to Nisildhor in Dhorpatan. .’

The rural municipality had prepared a detailed project report for a 19-kilometer road connecting Khoriya, Dhaulagiri Rural Municipality-2, Myagdi, with Dhorpatan five years ago and proposed a plan and budget to the federal government.

A 20-kilometer road from Beni-Tatopani-Babiyachour-Tolawang has been blacktopped with the investment of the provincial government.
