Kathmandu. Nepali Congress MP Deepak Giri has demanded that the government ensure the rights of Non-Resident Nepalis (NRNs) as per the constitution and ensure legal facilities for investment in Nepal. Speaking at the meeting of the House of Representatives on Wednesday, MP Giri said this.
He said that Non-Resident Nepalis should be seen as partners in Nepal’s development and should be treated like Nepali citizens. He said that millions of overseas Nepalis are missing out on investment opportunities due to the lack of clarity on the legal and implementation aspects of NRN citizenship.
He said, “Non-Resident Nepalis (NRNs) are partners in Nepal’s development.” Therefore, I strongly request the government to implement NRN citizenship in a way that provides all the rights provided by the constitution and to make legal arrangements for NRNs to invest in Nepal like Nepali citizens.’
Although the government has taken some steps regarding NRN citizenship, it has not yet been able to fully implement and ensure professional rights.
