Kathmandu. Nepali Congress MP Mohan Bahadur Basnet has said that the police had to be helpless even when the royalist demonstration turned into chaos due to the government’s weakness. He said this while talking to media persons at the Federal Parliament premises in New Baneshwor on Sunday.

He also commented that the royalist group’s protesters were seen waiting to see if they would take out a rally and loot. He argued that the royalists were not demonstrating out of political will but with the aim of fishing in murky waters. He said that the police should not sit idly by when people are being killed and private property is being set on fire and looted.

He said, ‘Didn’t they wait to see if there would be a rally in Tinkune, looting in Bhatbhateni?’ It was seen. The leadership should take responsibility for that. Therefore, rather than political will, it was seen that activities were being carried out with the aim of fishing in murky waters. Therefore, the state’s presence was also seen to be weak. The police seemed helpless. An order was needed, right? When public property has been set on fire, people have started dying, and looting is happening, why do the police just sit and watch?

He claims that a lot of people and property have been lost due to the government’s serious mistakes.
