Kathmandu. Kathmandu: The Ministry of Health and Population and Nepal NetraJyoti Sangh have signed an agreement to expand eye treatment services. As per the agreement signed between the Ministry and the Association in the presence of Minister for Health and Population Pradeep Poudel today, the Association will now provide subsidized treatment services targeting the areas where eye treatment is not available.
As per the ministry’s policy to increase access to eye treatment, the association will expand the programme in coordination with the federal, provincial and local governments. In addition, the association is going to help increase the capacity of the human resources providing services in primary eye treatment working in basic health institutions.
The Ministry will facilitate the participation of foreign ophthalmologists of the Association in the treatment and will help deploy the human resources who have studied on scholarship from the federal and provincial hospitals.
Speaking at a programme organized after the agreement, Health Minister Poudel expressed the belief that nepal’s eye care service is quality and accessible and it would play a role in developing the health treatment as a tourism center along with increasing the reach of the citizens. Association President Dr Chet Raj Panta has expressed gratitude to Minister Poudel for facilitating the creation of the necessary environment to increase access to eye treatment as per the government’s target.
