Agency. Turkish Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya said that 81,576 Syrians have voluntarily returned to their homeland since December 9 last year.
He said that they had voluntarily returned to their homeland from Turkey. This brings the total number of voluntary returns since 2017 to 821,579. Turkey currently hosts 4,121,663 legally residing foreigners.
Of which 2,865,430 are Syrians, 1,066,130 are residence permit holders and 190,220 are under international protection. Turkish authorities have stepped up border security and deportation measures to combat irregular migration.
142,536 irregular migrants have been deported since last year. While law enforcement has conducted 7,871 operations against human trafficking networks and arrested 5,164 people involved in migrant smuggling.
To strengthen migration control, 270 mobile migration vehicles have been deployed in 81 provinces. This has increased operational efficiency in tracking and managing undocumented migrants.
