More than 2,000 tourists visited Shuklaphanta in six months

Kanchanpur. 2,388 tourists have visited Shuklaphanta National Park during the first six months of the current fiscal year. Out of these, 1,160 women and 1,228 men have visited the park. The number of domestic tourists visiting the park is 2,181.

90 people, including 27 women and 63 men from SAARC countries, have visited the park, said Purushottam Bagle, Information Officer at the Park Office. According to him, 117 foreign tourists, including 48 women and 69 men, have visited the park. The highest number of tourists visited the park in Chaitra, with 520.

316 tourists visited the park in Kartik, 389 in Mangsir, 432 in Poush, 271 in Magh, and 460 in Falgun. According to him, due to the monsoon in Shrawan, Bhadau, and Asoj, tourist activity in the park is zero. In the fiscal year 2080/81, 4,574 tourists visited the park. Of these, 1,770 were female and 2,804 were male tourists.

4,294 domestic tourists, 137 tourists from SAARC countries, and 143 foreign tourists visited the park. Established in 2031 BS, the park is spread over 305 square kilometers. The park is known for having a high density of tigers in a small area.

The park, famous for its rare wildlife, birds and plants, is home to the world’s largest herd of bison. Domestic and foreign tourists flock to Shuklaphanta, the largest grassland in Nepal’s protected area, to see the bison herd. More than 53 mammals including wild elephants, leopards, one-horned rhinoceros, leopards, donkeys, bison, blackbucks, wild boars, deer, chitals, and lagunas are found in the park.

Magar crocodiles are found in other lakes within the park, including Rani Lake. More than 449 species of birds, both native and migratory, are found in the park. The park is home to 12 species of reptiles, 20 species of amphibians, 24 species of fish, and 35 species of butterflies.
