Madhes. More than 1,800 health workers from Madhes Province have joined the protest. Fourth and fifth level health workers of the C.I.A.H.E.B. and C.I.N.M.I. are participating in the ongoing protest in front of the Chief Minister’s Office.
They had started the protest on Chaitra 25. Mohan Sah, a coordinator participating in the protest, said that they were protesting because of a mandatory clause mentioned in the ‘Madhes Province Local Service Formation and Operation Act, 2081’ brought by the Madhes Province government.
He said that they were deprived of promotions due to the said act. He said, ‘Health workers who have been adjusted as per the Employees Adjustment Act, 2075 BS will be promoted only as per this act.’
Based on this point, the employees who started service from the fourth level after the Madhes Public Service Commission stopped the process are in confusion. About half of the health workers participating in the movement are women. They are also actively participating in the sit-in.
