Kanchanpur. One lakh 43 thousand 489 girls of Sudurpaschim Province have been vaccinated against HPV against cervical cancer. According to Dharmananda Giri, Information Officer of Sudurpaschim Health Directorate Dipayal, Doti, this is 95 percent of the set target.
The directorate has set a target of vaccinating one lakh 51 thousand 59 girls from all nine districts of the province. According to Information Officer Giri, 45,888 girls from Kailali, 25,840 from Kanchanpur, 11,388 from Doti, 13,897 from Achham and 11,388 from Doti have been vaccinated.
Similarly, 6,949 girls from Dadeldhura, 11,897 from Bajhang, 7,649 from Bajura, 12,828 from Baitadi and 7,153 from Darchula have been vaccinated against cervical cancer.
A nationwide HPV (Human Papilloma Virus) vaccination campaign against cervical cancer has been launched since Magh 22. The campaign is said to continue until Falgun 7.
During the campaign, girl students studying from class 6 to class 10 have been vaccinated against cervical cancer, while out-of-school girls aged 10 to 14 have also been vaccinated.
