Chitwan. In the first six months of the current fiscal year, 110,345 tourists have visited Chitwan National Park. The largest number of visitors are domestic tourists.
According to Abinash Thapa Magar, information officer of the park, 53,103 Nepalis have visited the park since Shrawan. 10,850 people from SAARC countries and 46,392 people from third countries have visited the park. Thapa said that domestic tourists are more. 131,146,450 rupees in revenue has been collected from tourists.
Tourists come to the park to see rare one-horned rhinos, leopards, crocodiles, and other wildlife, aquatic animals, and birds. Tourists enjoy elephant, boat, jeep and walking tours in the park and its buffer zone. The main attraction of Chitwan is the Chitwan National Park.
Meanwhile, a female rhinoceros has been found dead in the park. On Magh 3, a female rhinoceros of about 30 years old was found dead in Tapletal near the Dhruv Post of the park. It is suspected that the rhinoceros died of natural causes. The horns and hooves of the dead rhinoceros are intact.
Thirteen rhinoceros have been found dead till mid-December of the current fiscal year. Of these, five are males, five are females and three whose sex is not known. One of the dead was electrocuted, while the others died of natural causes.
