Monkey-racing cliff is now a tourist’s choice, earning Rs 46,000 in a single day

The monkey-wielding guard has now become a tourist’s choice. Abukhaireni Rural Municipality-2 and 4 have set up a park in the natural guard area on the border of rural municipality-2 and 4. Besides, the rural municipality has been creating a strong source of internal resources by attracting tourists.

Hundreds of vehicles ply through this highway every day to reach Pokhara, Chitwan and Kathmandu. The beautiful water canopy here makes the mind cool and the beautiful natural scenery and attractively carved idols easily attract anyone.

The rural municipality has started the work of tourism promotion by constructing physical infrastructure with an investment of more than Rs 15 million in the fiscal year 2080/81 BS. A beautiful fairy statue, an elephant trunk, an idol of a mother and a child have been carved on the stone of the guard, while the shade of water falling from above the guard brings a distinct joy to the tourists.

The rural municipality has earned Rs 4.2 million in the fiscal year 2081/82 BS. The rural municipality has fixed the entry fee at Rs 50 for locals and Rs 100 for foreign tourists. Chief Administrative Officer of the rural municipality, Bishnu Prasad Sharma, said that there is a huge rush of tourists on holidays as compared to other days. The Ainapahara Restaurant Hotel is operating in the same park. The rural municipality has rented out a monthly rent of Rs 46,500.

Around 1,000 domestic tourists arrived on Saturday and collected Rs 46,300 in a single day. “This amount is the highest ever collected and on other days, at least Rs 8,000-10,000 is earned from ticket sales,” he said. The rural municipality expects to earn up to Rs 10 million annually next year. “We have started constructing glass bridges and structures for adventure sports such as ziplines and skywalks to attract tourists,” he said. ’

The rural municipality has already operated a motorboat on the Marsyangdi river. It has been developing the temple as a religious tourist destination by preserving the infrastructure and temple of Chimkeshwari Mai and Budhimai Temple from Andimul Temple and Samudori Sahat. Shukra Chuman, chairperson of the rural municipality, said that the area has been developed as a tourist destination as there is a lot of potential to attract tourists as hundreds of vehicles ply through the Prithvi Highway every day.
