During this period, the number of newborn livestock across Mongolia increased by 18.6 million compared to the same period last year, the country’s ministry said in a statement. The animal husbandry sector is one of the main pillars of mongolian economy. About 40 per cent of the country’s nomadic population depends on it.
However, due to harsh and long winters, most nomadic pastoralists in Mongolia lose livestock each year. As a result, their livelihood decreases. At the end of 2024, Mongolia had 57.6 million livestock, according to the National Statistics Office.
