Kathmandu. The issue of appointing a governor is still pending. Even the powerful government formed by the Congress-UML coalition has not been able to appoint a governor in the National Bank so far.

Although some leaders of the Congress-UML claimed that an agreement had been reached between Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba and Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli on the appointment of the governor, the cabinet meeting held on Monday could not appoint the governor. The government has failed to comply with the National Bank Act as vested interests dominate the appointment of governors. The National Bank Act has clearly stipulated that a new governor should be appointed one month before the end of the governor’s term.
