Kathmandu. Minister for Industry, Commerce and Supplies and CPN(UML) leader Damodar Bhandari has said that the frustration prevailing in the country could be overcome if politics was conducted properly.

He said this while speaking at an interaction programme with private sector entrepreneurs on the current economic situation of Nepal organized by the CPN-UML in Kathmandu and the initiatives to be taken by the political parties in the context of the upcoming budget.

He objected to the government’s collusion with brokers and middlemen while addressing the demands and issues of industrialists. He said the government was working at the centre to keep the economy moving.

He expressed displeasure over the political workers being called ‘jhole’ and the private sector as middlemen and brokers at present and said that there was a need to encourage the private sector in the open market economy.

Stating that the government would incorporate the demands and issues of the private sector in the upcoming budget, he said, “The economy has to be made vibrant. Now we have moved ahead keeping this thing in the center. Now there is a language. Political activists are called jhole, private sector is called middlemen and brokers. By making such statements to each other. Politics is everyone’s policy. It should be properly operated. If there is the right direction, everything will go well. The private sector will have to be encouraged in today’s open market economy to move forward properly. The frustration will have to be overcome. Morale has to be raised. For this, when I was leading the present government, industry, commerce and supplies, we started the ministry’s reform action plan. After a 21-day long discussion, we have moved ahead to solve the problem as per your suggestions. We are moving towards resolving the complexities within the governance structure of the state by the government. ’

Stating that there was a need to emphasize on investment promotion, Minister Bhandari said that the environment for investment in the hydropower sector has been ensured. He said the government was trying to move ahead by widening the scope of investment.
