Kathmandu. British Prime Minister Keir Starmer said military chiefs would meet in Britain on Thursday to discuss plans to set up a peacekeeping force in Ukraine to protect any potential ceasefire.
“We agreed to accelerate our practical work to support a potential deal, so we will now enter the operational phase,” Starmer said after hosting a virtual meeting of about 25 other leaders.
“We agreed that the ball is now in Russia’s court,” Starmer said in a statement released by his Downing Street office. “President Putin must demonstrate that he is serious about peace and sign a ceasefire on equal terms.” The Kremlin’s indecision and delay in responding to President Trump’s ceasefire proposal, and Russia’s continued barbaric attacks on Ukraine, are completely contrary to President Putin’s declared desire for peace.”
