‘I have already left the village, if the drinking water supply had not been successful, I would have also walked, I have not felt like leaving even after the water came. “We have land, we have been able to take care of things, this is where we will live now,” said Hem Bahadur.
The organization’s chairman Thapa said that the lifting drinking water project that began in 2076 BS has now been completed. He said that they were disappointed that drinking water would not come to the village due to the delay in construction work, but are now happy.
He said that some people who left the village due to lack of drinking water are returning. Nara Bahadur Saru Magar said that it used to take one and a half to two hours to get drinking water, but now the village is happy when water comes from the tap near the house.
According to him, who is also the secretary of the Drinking Water Organization, about 191 houses in Jhyaltu Ngdanda and surrounding villages, including Pokhari Tal, Chisapani, Sano Pokhari, Tadi, etc., have now received drinking water facilities. He said that drinking water was distributed by lifting it from the source of the Andheri River.
While they had decided to leave the village due to the problem of drinking water, a local woman from Goma said that it felt like heaven when water came to her house.
‘Now there are many facilities, earlier we could not carry more than one or two loads of water, if there was no water for some time, we were ready to leave the village and walk, it would take two hours to get one load of water, we could not wash clothes or take a bath,’ she said. ‘Now there are many facilities. Now it’s like heaven’
Earlier, when three or four loads of water had to be carried every day, it was the work of one person to carry the water. She said that instead of having to spend water by collecting it, now the problem of drinking water has been solved after the water tap has been installed at home.
Ishara Bakwal said that when there is a water problem, even if a guest comes and asks for water, it is not enough for the day. He said that although it is a beautiful place to live, the locals of Jhyaltungdanda have been suffering for a long time due to the lack of drinking water, but now the problem of drinking water has been resolved.
Mahendra Acharya, Chief of the Unit Office, Nawalpur, said that a drinking water project has been completed in Jhyaltungdanda at a cost of about 10 million rupees through the Drinking Water and Sanitation Division Office, Tanahun, at the expense of the Gandaki Province Government through lifting technology.
He said that the office is working on a plan with the aim of providing drinking water to houses that do not have drinking water. Rana Bahadur Thapa Chhetri, the spokesperson of the municipality and ward chair of ward no. 10, said that Madhyabindu Municipality-10 and the municipality office have provided assistance in electrification for the provision of drinking water in the area including Jhyaltungdanda. He said that a budget of Rs. 2 million has been allocated for the work of supplying electricity to the source and installing a transmitter.
