Khotang. Minister for Physical Infrastructure and Transport Devendra Dahal has inaugurated the blacktopping of Mahure-Foxingtar road. Minister Dahal formally unveiled the inscription and inaugurated the blacktopping of the road, which was laid by the then Prime Minister Late Manmohan Adhikari in 2051 BS.

Chief engineer of Gaighat-Diktel Road Project, Pashupati Gyawali, said the government has allocated Rs 860 million for blacktopping the diktel-Gaighat road section from Foxingtar to Simpani and from Simpani to Mahure.

According to him, Divyajyoti Construction Pvt Ltd Dhading has taken the responsibility of blacktopping the first section of the road while Rayamajhi Construction Pvt Ltd Kathmandu has taken the responsibility of blacktopping the second section. Dibyajyoti Construction Pvt Ltd signed an agreement on March 27, 2081 BS to complete the project at a cost of Rs 420 million and Rayamajhi Construction Pvt Ltd signed an agreement on February 1, 2081 BS to complete it at a cost of Rs 440 million.

An agreement has been reached to complete both the roads within four years. Addressing a road blacktopping programme organized at Foxingtar, Minister Dahal urged the contractor company to complete the blacktopping of the road connecting Khotang to various districts of eastern Tarai on time.

This road is not only your professional work but also your responsibility towards the state. You will complete this road blacktopping on time. For this, the ministry will not allow shortage of necessary budget,” he said, adding that caution is also needed from the people to complete the black paper on time. The road will be two-lane. The ministry is committed to constructing the road. ”

Minister Dahal also said that the Ministry was committed to the reconstruction of the pucca bridge at Foxingtar at Sukshi. According to him, the Ministry of Finance has already allocated Rs 350 million for the construction of the concrete bridge that was washed away by the floods on September 19 and the Foxingtar bridge would be rebuilt within the next one and a half years.

The road was blacktopped earlier as well. Due to the negligence of the contractor, the ministry broke the contract and signed an agreement with another contractor company and started blacktopping again.
