Dhorpatan. Two motorable bridges in Baglung have been abandoned for nine years due to extreme negligence of construction entrepreneurs. The locals have been suffering as the construction of the Bhujikhola bridge connecting Astu-Odarbot in Dhorpatan Municipality-5 and the Daramkhola bridge in Galkot Municipality-7 has not picked up speed.
W.T. Rafina JV Construction was given the responsibility for the construction of both bridges. The contract for the Bhujikhola bridge was signed on 2073 BS, with completion in Magh 2074 BS. The Road Division Office has stated that only 35 percent of the work on the bridge has been completed so far.
The contract for the Daramkhola shop was signed on 2073 BS, with completion in Magh 2074 BS. The deadline was last extended on November 14, 2077, after the construction company failed to complete the work on time. Only 40 percent of the work on this bridge has been completed.
According to Hari Prasad Subedi, Chief of the Road Division Office, there is an agreement for the construction of the Bhujikhola bridge at Rs 20.16 million and the Daramkhola bridge at Rs 30.32 million. The structures constructed so far are dilapidated. Technicians say that the condition of the three is unusable.
