Bhojpur. The famous historical religious and tourist site Ganga Khola has been protected in Ramprasadrai Rural Municipality-6. Local citizens along with the ward office have joined hands to protect this site located in the lap of Golme Raj and Golme Rani Bhir.
Devotees come to this place with three large water springs emerging from the rock face due to the religious belief that their wishes will be fulfilled by visiting it, informed local resident Rajendra Rai. Although it is a unique religious and tourist site that the country should know, it has been overlooked due to lack of publicity.
He informed that bathing in this water cures all types of skin diseases and is customary to offer it in any pious work. He said that a grand fair is held here during Maghe Sankranti.
‘Ganga River is a historical and religious place that the country should know,’ he said. ‘This place, located in the lap of Golmeraja and Golmerani hills, has been overlooked due to lack of publicity and protection. This place has many unique features and mythological importance. Due to its geographical remoteness, the development of this area has been hampered. The state needs to search for such national assets and emphasize their protection.’
Ward Chairman Ekraj Acharya said that all the sources of Ganga River never dry up, do not become muddy during the rainy season, and their sources flow from south to north, which is why it has a special significance. He said that although a lot of budget is required for the development of this area, the ward is allocating some budget and is working on conservation.
Ward President Acharya said that the ward has allocated budget and has built a water tap targeting the devotees who come here. He said that since there is a need to build many structures here, other state bodies have also been approached. He said that there is a need for a hiking trail to reach the source.
Local resident Pandav Rai said that the local government, central government and state government need to take initiatives for the development of this place. He said that this area should be developed and established as a sustainable source of income for the rural municipality.
‘Ganga River is a unique and amazing sacred religious site,’ he said. ‘When monitoring this place on the ground, one can truly see the unique nature of nature. The topography here amazes everyone. But such a place has not yet been protected and promoted.’
