Kathmandu. Most of the EV entrepreneurs imported a large number of vehicles saying that the Finance Act-2082 could increase the tax on electric vehicles before May 15, 2082. Most of the EV importers passed more than 5,000 EV customs checks, saying that they could increase the tax like the Finance Act 2081.

Due to the lack of increase in tax on EV vehicles from the Economic Act, a large capital of businessmen has been trapped. It can be estimated from the data that only a limited number of businesses have received information about the tax rate change on the night of May 15. Because Symex Inc. Pvt. Ltd., which sells the most EV vehicles, has passed only a small number of vehicles.

According to finance ministry sources, Cymex Inc, which sells BYD, had stocked 1,498 vehicles in the last fiscal year. But this time only 450 vehicles have been stocked. The company imported 3,535 vehicles in the last fiscal year.

According to sources, the company has imported fewer vehicles after receiving information from the Finance Ministry in advance. It has been seen that some companies have received information in advance that there will be no increase in taxes on electric vehicles. There is a clear basis that the Ministry of Finance has provided information to some businessmen.

Only a few vehicles of Omoda and J sold by Sharda Group have been imported. According to the Ministry of Finance, only 43 Omoda vehicles and seven vehicles of J were released before May 14.

Paramount Motor has imported the highest number of vehicles among EV importers. The company had imported 676 MG vehicles before the budget. According to the customs department data, MG is the most number of vehicles left out due to increase in taxes.

Laxmi Intercontinental is also among the importers. The company had imported 450 vehicles before the budget. The company has also imported more than 100 EVs of Kaiyi brand.  The Dongfeng EV sold by MAW has also been imported more. The company has cleared 416 vehicles before the budget.

In the budget, a large number of companies that imported vehicles on the pretext of taking advantage of taxes have got a huge capital stuck.
