Kathmandu. Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has expressed dissatisfaction over the media lowering the stature of the Nepali language. Addressing a special program organized on the occasion of the 125th anniversary of Gorkhapatra Daily on Wednesday, he expressed such dissatisfaction.
He accused the current media of using low-level language, saying that there are many honorific words in the Nepali language. He said that Nepali language is the richest language in the world. He urged not to lower the stature of the Nepali language by imitating the English language, saying that the language of honor should not be spoken according to Nepali culture and tradition, and that the same language should not be used for grandparents and grandchildren.
He said, “Even now, Gorkhapatra is at the forefront of saving our language movement. I do not remember well whether the President said or said. The President inaugurated the language after talking to his grandson, saying, “This is not the Nepali language. When he was a king, he would not look at us, he would look at our newspapers and magazines. When he was a king, he would not walk, he would ride. When he did not eat, he would be a glutton. When he sat, he rested. When he did not listen, he would be a hermit. When we say we have abolished the monarchy, why should we consider the children of the people? Why should we respect them? When we say, ‘You, you,’ we have a grandfather and a grandson. We should imitate that in our language. Why should we reduce the stature of a language that is poor in that language because it could not reach the heights in our language?”
Prime Minister Oli said that the prosperity of the Nepali language is not in other languages.
