Kathmandu. CPN-UML Vice President Surendra Pandey has said that China’s role is important for global stability and political stability. Addressing the ‘Nepal-China Economic and Business Summit-2025’ organized in Kathmandu on Friday, he said this.
He said that China is watching the political developments in the world closely as they have created a situation where the political order itself can be changed. He said that an environment should be created for tourism exchanges with China to strengthen Nepal’s weak economy, and if an environment can be created to bring 5 million Chinese tourists to Nepal annually, Nepal’s economy will strengthen in a short time and there will be a big change in GDP.
He said that Nepal should move forward by taking advantage of various products available in the country, and that nothing can be done with the help of donors alone without the ability to strengthen its economy by being production-oriented. He said that Nepal should seriously think about the economic and political impact that the new global environment may have on Nepal.
He said, ‘To move forward from Nepal’s current backward situation, we should focus on production. We should choose what our own production areas can be and work to change our economic situation. One big opportunity for that would be tourism. Suppose China and Nepal were to exchange 5 million people a year, if 5 million Chinese tourists came to Nepal and this situation continued for 10 consecutive years, there would be a big change in Nepal’s GDP, and Nepal’s per capita income would reach 10 to 12 thousand dollars. How can we be specific and develop Nepal? We need to think about what we produce and how we can sell it and how it will benefit Nepal.’
‘Until we have production and are in a position to build our own economy, donors cannot do anything. Even when friends help, we must have the ability to take it, our current situation is not the ability to take it even when donors give it. The world is going through a situation where the world situation will change in a new way. We are also watching how it will affect Nepal, and China is studying this world event very closely, and it seems that there may be a new kind of change in the world’s global order. “In such a situation, I believe that China’s role is important for the stability and stability of Nepal, Asia and the entire world,” he said.
Vice President Pandey said that China has an important role in the development of various sectors, including the economy, of Nepal, and that Nepal has always adhered to the One-China policy.
