Kathmandu. Nepali Congress MP Dr. Narayan Khadka has said that although the government’s policies and programs have been good overall, there is no program that will move the country forward towards prosperity. He said this while participating in the discussion on the government’s policies and programs in the House of Representatives meeting on Sunday.
He said that although the policies and programs have addressed all issues at the ministry level, there is no program that will fulfill the goals and objectives of development. He said that the policies and programs are not focused on solving various problems seen economically.
He said that it is not right for the government to include in the policies and programs things that will protest against those who speak against the federal democratic republic. He said that the government will not hide the dissatisfaction and disappointment of the people seen on the streets. He said that the system should be strengthened by addressing the dissatisfaction of the youth through the budget.
He said, ‘Overall, it includes matters from 24 ministries. The matters given by the ministry have been kept in a way that reduces emphasis. But looking at it holistically, what is the government? The government’s drive? The engine of growth? There is no mention anywhere of which ministry is doing which program to drive development. There are ambitious plans in energy as well. There are programs in agriculture as well. But I did not find that focus in the policy and program on which ministry is driving this and how our economic problems will be addressed by coordinating collective problems.’
‘Another thing that we need to look at is something that the government or the parties in the coalition should look at, whether it is when making policies and programs or when making the budget. On pages 2 and 3, I found that the government stands firm and opposes those who make chaotic, unwanted, negative comments. However, this shows that there is a lot of disappointment and dissatisfaction among the youth on the streets. We, the parties in government or the ministers and the Prime Minister, should not hide those things, they cannot hide them. “There are things to be done to address that frustration and dissatisfaction, how to increase delivery, how to increase the supply of services and goods, and how to address that frustration and dissatisfaction that has come to the streets, and to take our federal democratic republic forward in an organized, institutionalized, and determined manner. I think the upcoming budget will address that,” he said.
MP Khadka said that the budget should be designed to create various opportunities, including employment, for the 7 million young people in Nepal.
