Legal Practitioners Council Bill: Women’s participation should be ensured

Kathmandu. Minister for Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Ajay Kumar Chaurasia has stressed the need to complete the Legal Practitioners Council (Second Amendment) Bill, 2081 only after adequate discussion with stakeholders.

Responding to the queries raised in the discussion with the members who presented the amendment proposal on the bill in today’s meeting of the Law, Justice and Human Rights Committee of the House of Representatives, he said that the bill would be forwarded only on the basis of the suggestions of the experts concerned.

CpN (Maoist Centre) Chief Whip Hitraj Pandey demanded inclusion of information and communication technology along with the participation of women in the Legal Practitioners Council Bill. Lawmakers Pratiksha Tiwari, Dhruba Bahadur Pradhan, Ram Kumar Rai and Jeevan Pariyar stressed the need to amend the impractical aspects of the bill.
