Kathmandu: Nepal Communist Party (UML) Vice-Chairman and Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Bishnu Prasad Poudel has said that the leadership is capable of resolving the problems seen in the party. Addressing a meeting of the UML People’s Organisation Mechanism here today, he said though there were some problems in the UML, they would be resolved through laws and statutes.
UML vice-chair Poudel said the UML was the party with fewer internal problems in the contemporary political party. “There is no party anywhere. There is no party like washed radish, like Gangajal,” he said. But UML is a party with fewer internal problems. The present leadership is capable of addressing all the problems seen in the party. ’
Poudel said the party was preparing for the party’s statute general convention as it was approaching. “We will formulate a method to legally correct the problems seen in the operation of the party organization since the previous statute convention,” he said, adding, “The central committee proposes the issues to be amended in the statute.” We will send these issues to the general convention delegates in advance and ask them to further enrich them. He directed the people’s organisations not to make unnecessary assumptions and divide the party leadership without holding a general convention.
“Let’s not discuss the issue of leadership before the statute convention,” he said. There is no problem regarding leadership in UML. Poudel said all should work to remove the laxity seen in the party and people’s organization.
He stressed the need for people’s organisations to play a strong role in party building. Recalling that the people’s organization was very strong in the people’s movement of 2046/47 and the second people’s movement of 2062/63, he said that the people’s organization has been strengthened in the present situation. “People’s organisation is the nursery of the party. He said that the saplings planted here will be shifted to the party after growing, “So it is basically the job of the people’s organization to bring new people in contact with the party.” But now some people’s organizations take the party cadres and organize them and return them back to the party. It does not expand the organization and the party. ’
Bhanubhakta Dhakal, in-charge of the people’s organization mechanism, said that the newly elected people’s organization central committee should work to build the party with new enthusiasm. According to him, the meeting was attended by in-charges, chairmen, general secretaries and outgoing chairmen of 16 people’s organisations that recently concluded the general convention. In the meeting, the in-charges of the people’s organizations reported about their people’s organizations.
