Kathmandu. Lawmakers have stressed the need to streamline ride sharing. Speaking at a meeting of the Infrastructure Development Committee under the House of Representatives, lawmakers put pressure on the government to move ahead by streamlining ride-sharing.

They suggested that the Ministry of Physical Infrastructure and Transport should do the necessary work to make it systematic by enacting a fixed law.

They have been agitating demanding the immediate repeal of section 2 of the Regulation 2082 (red plate) brought by the Gandaki state government for the operation of private vehicles (red plate) by publishing it in the Gazette on May 1, 2082, in violation of section 8 of section 8 and section 12 of section 12 of the Motor Vehicles Act 2049.

Speaking at the meeting, CPN (Unified Socialist) lawmaker Prakash Jwala said the party was working to re-establish the syndicate while trying to end the syndicate. He claimed that the agreement signed by the government with the transport entrepreneurs on Monday night was a syndicate.

He said that now is the time of competition, so people should be allowed to use the vehicles they want to ride. He urged the government not to work for the benefit of a certain section of people. Stating that the regulations brought by the Gandaki state government regarding ride-sharing were correct, he said it was necessary to organize them.

Lawmaker Jwala said, “There is talk of transport entrepreneurs. Where are we going? On the one hand, we are going towards ending the syndicate. On the other hand, we are restoring the syndicate. Tonight’s agreement is a syndicate. We are restoring the syndicate that was broken earlier. Will it benefit the people or not? This is a time of competition. People should be able to use whatever is easy, whatever facilities they have, whatever means they want to use. We talk about public transport, but we are doing it in a way that is beneficial for a certain section of people. ‘

“The Gandaki state government has done well. Even from the center. Even if the center makes rules and organizes ride-sharing across the country, it is done. They should also be managed and brought under the tax net. But don’t allow competition. A few people look for ride-sharing instead of boarding a bus. People need facilities. The deal was not good. This is objectionable. People do not get service in this way. If the transport entrepreneurs protest, they will go towards setting up a syndicate and breaking the syndicate. What happens if people protest? It’s a big problem,” he added.

CpN (Maoist Centre) lawmaker Madhav Sapkota urged Minister for Physical Infrastructure and Transport Devendra Dahal to clarify the agreement signed with transport entrepreneurs.

He said that the citizens were confused as one side had called off the transport shutdown and the other was saying that the movement was going on. Is monday’s agreement temporary or sustainable? He also asked questions.

Sapkota said, “What is the special thing that the transport entrepreneurs have? It was late at night. We have been in the meeting since morning. Public transport has not been plying since morning. Seeing various social media, some have said that our movement is intact, some have said that our movement has been withdrawn. What’s a special deal? Has the Government of Nepal thought anything about sustainable management?

Speaking at the meeting, Rastriya Swatantra Party lawmaker Shiva Nepali objected to the activities of the transport entrepreneurs stopping them from walking in private vehicles and vandalizing vehicles. Who is to blame for this situation?” he asked. He drew the attention of the government towards the non-fulfillment of the demands of the transport entrepreneurs.

“Yesterday, I was stopped by transport entrepreneurs in Damauli. They left me because I said my position. The car was almost not vandalized. I got away with the verse. But the general public is not in that position. People travelling in private vehicles were evacuated and sent by vehicle as the demands of transport entrepreneurs were not met. It is important to know who is responsible for this. In the three-phase meeting, only point number 1 could not be agreed upon. I want a good decision between the transport entrepreneurs and the government. ’

Speaking at the meeting, Nepali Congress lawmaker Sita Gurung urged the government to regulate ride-sharing by enacting certain laws. He said that if the decision is not taken in time, it can pose a big risk in the future.

Lawmaker Gurung said, “This ride-sharing that is going on. It should be managed by making certain laws. The Physical Ministry should take a decision on this in time. Prevent the challenges from coming tomorrow. ’

The lawmakers have drawn the attention of the government to take necessary steps immediately after assessing the disaster before the disaster occurs. He suggested to do the necessary work for the safety of risky places. Stating that some bridges and roads damaged by the earthquake are still in the same condition, he urged the government to pay attention to their reconstruction and maintenance.
