Rasuwa. Kerung Bazaar in Tibet, China, through the Rasuwagadhi border point near Kathmandu, has become the choice of Nepali businessmen. With the facility of doing business in Kerung on the basis of the border identity card received only by the residents of Rasuwa district, it seems that the residents of the district are also rushing to get this identity card on the basis of migration.

The id card holders will be allowed to visit Kerung through the border point in connection with business activities. The Immigration Office, Rasuwagadhi has issued border identity cards to 242 Rasuwa residents in the current fiscal year. Meghraj Sharma, senior immigration assistant at Rasuwagadhi Immigration Office, Ghattekhola, said that although there is no exact data on how many Rasuwa residents have such a pass, it is estimated that around 30,000 Rasuwa residents have taken border identity cards so far.

Immigration Assistant Sharma said that the number of people doing business in Kerung is increasing with the border identity card that can be obtained after migrating to Rasuwa from elsewhere. According to the Immigration Office, once the pass is taken, there is a provision to renew it every year. Leaders of district-based political parties and civil society leaders have drawn the attention of the concerned bodies to the increase in the number of migrants as the border identity card holders will be able to rent their houses in Kerung and do business with confidence.

It is expected that the number of people coming here from outside the district will decrease with the provision of land ownership certificate, house construction and electricity bill payment certificate and recommendation of the concerned ward due to the increase in the number of migrations in the recent past. In this context, Biru Tamang, border in-charge of Maiti Nepal Rasuwagadhi branch, said that 500 Nepali women have gone to Kerung from Rasuwagadhi border point for employment. Tamang said 20-25 of the women who had gone to Kerung for employment had set up shops with their own investment while the rest were employed in hotels, shops and Tibetan homes.

Nepalis have opened around 20 hotels and lodges in Kerung. In this way, after the opening of the hotel in Kerung, it has become easier for The Nepalis to eat and sleep at a reasonable price. Similarly, apart from retail shops, 15-20 people are engaged in sewing, about 15 are making gold ornaments and others are enjoying the profession of labor. Similarly, 2,398 men and 1,614 women have gone to Mansarovar Kailash pilgrimage from Rasuwagadhi border point this year, according to the Immigration Office, Rasuwa.
