Kavrepalanchok. The fire in the Mahabharat Community Forest in the southern area of Kavrepalanchok has not yet been brought under control. It is said that it has been raging in the community forest located in Thamalekh Danda, Khanikhola Rural Municipality-1 since Tuesday afternoon.
Chief District Officer Umesh Kumar Dhakal informed that the Nepal Army and Police team sent there on Wednesday evening is coordinating with the locals to take the initiative to control the fire. According to him, security personnel have been asked to monitor the fire area and human settlements and take the initiative to control the fire so that it does not spread towards human settlements and to immediately relocate if damage is seen.
According to the Division Forest Office Dhulikhel, the fire started in the forest edge area at 2 pm on Tuesday. The District Police Office Dhulikhel has stated that the fire is not under control at present. A team has been sent to monitor the situation to control the fire, said Krishna Bahadur Thapa, chief of the forest office. According to him, as the fire is spreading in the forest, a joint meeting of the district administration office and security agencies will be held today to find a solution to control it.
Prajya Dhakal said that additional manpower along with necessary equipment will be mobilized in coordination with other concerned bodies to control the fire. It is reported that the human settlement is about three kilometers away from the fire site. The police, however, have stated that no human or animal has been injured so far.
