Kathmandu. IME Group and IXI Corp have jointly launched Kathmandu Technical School (KTS). The school has been launched with the aim of producing skilled manpower in the job market.
Minister for Labor, Employment and Social Security Sharat Singh Bhandari inaugurated the school at a function held in Dhumbarahi today. On the occasion, he said that the government has prioritized partnership with the private sector as only a combination of skills, employment, entrepreneurship and capital can solve the problems of unemployment and poverty.
‘Technical manpower production is the government’s priority, the government is ready to collaborate with the private sector in skill development and technical manpower production,’ Minister Bhandari said. He said that the government will move forward in collaboration with the private sector in producing skilled manpower as skills are required for domestic employment, self-employment and foreign employment.
Chairman of the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry and IME Group Chandra Prasad Dhakal said that with the operation of the school, IME Group has now moved forward in the field of technical manpower production. He expressed confidence that the school will play an important role in providing employment or self-employment to thousands of youth.
‘The school has been established with the aim of starting a new era in technical and vocational education in Nepal. We expect this school to make a positive contribution to employment, education, society and the overall economy,’ he said.
Kathmandu Technical School Chairman Manoj Poudel said that the school will support the government’s goal of producing more than one lakh skilled manpower in the next 10 years. He mentioned that the school aims to provide world-class training and education to the youth. Chairman Poudel said that KTS will collaborate with local and national industries as well as international partners to enable its students to compete on the global stage.
Representatives and stakeholders from the government, private sector, foreign diplomatic missions and donor agencies were present on the occasion. The school will conduct training in employment-oriented and self-employment-oriented fields including hospitality, culinary arts, caregiving, barista, bar tending, etc. The school has stated that it aims to produce more than one lakh skilled manpower in the next decade.
